Please People Please

I watch with sadness as the daily tally climbs.

130, 140, 150,000+

One. Hundred. Fifty. Thousand. Human. Beings in these United States of America who’ve left this life because of Covid-19 150,000 with family and friends whose world is now rocked, whose journey will never, ever be the same

& now, this beast has crept into my space, with MY peeps.

And although she so often keeps a delightfully positive attitude (Wine Days) I feel the uneasiness between those lines for she knows, she’s seen firsthand how Corona comes in, takes over and controls

& truth be told ?

Daunted, I am.

When describing how Husband and I have handled ourselves during these pandemic days, we often reference this time, last year (June 24th) with absolutely no apologies if you’ve heard this one a time or two million.  He’s been there. WE’VE been there. Lost in a cycle of hospital rooms and routines and tests and helplessness. A life handed over to others, to trust.

Ventilators ? Yep. Twice. And if you’re looking for intimidating, right there is where it’s found.

Maybe we’re struggling with a form of PTSD ?? we’ve wondered. Possibly. But to watch a person deteriorate right in front of your very own eyeballs is an experience like no other and linger, it does. So hidden in our quarantine we remain because going back, we sooooo ain’t.

My point ??

Please be careful. Please be diligent. PLEASE take this monster seriously. Respect it’s energy ! Wear a mask. Wash those hands. Social Distance.  Listen to the science, to those who know best.  Be thoughtful of others.

Covid-19 has found it’s way into a house, a home, a family that I adore. I’m seeing how it weakens, how it takes it’s toll.

It’s here. HERE. And It’s scary.

So please, please People.

PLEASE.
