I’m Home, Dears

I’m Home, Dears

The weather advisors diligently advised.

Here’s a breakdown of the day:

  • A line of showers and storms works across western Kentucky very early this morning, but should diminish before it gets too far into central Kentucky.
  • Another line of storms will then develop across the west during the afternoon. That will roll eastward through the evening and could produce severe storms.
  • The best threat for severe weather appears to be in central Kentucky.
  • Damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes will be possible.
  • Winds are going to be a huge player through tonight as gusts can reach 50mph at times. Some power issues may develop.
  • Highs today should reach the 70s across the central and east. If we can get enough sun in the east, we may flirt with 80.
  • The storms end quickly from west to east this evening as colder winds blow into town.

Tennessee, Kentucky, a good portion of  Indiana and a blob on the radar stood between us and home.

hmmmm.

Should we or shouldn’t we … ?

& oh well. We’ll head out and see what happens we decided, as we can’t control Nature but we can control pulling into a rest-stop and waiting for those storms to pass.

And so began a most interesting day.

I still can’t figure out why she was so darn insistent ! Husband and I had followed this very same route over and over and knew precisely where we were headed but that little lady on the GPS was bullishly stubborn and quite adamant about which way we should turn.

The storms are a-brewing !! and we really should stay on a familiar track !! we hesitantly debated.

“Nope. Go my way!” she repeatedly repeated.

well … uh .. ok then …

Turns out, GPS gal was absolutely right and how did she know I ADORE a known to only the fortunate few, slow down and enjoy the scenery, side road ??!??

& YaY ! I’ve never, ever seen a tractor crossing sign before !! and I now know that a Lucky Sasquatch Party actually exists and is happening this St Patrick’s Day weekend in Nashville !!

& as the buzzing alerts interrupted the radio songs, reminding us of the rain and wind that were most definitely headed in our direction, Husband and I were treated to small towns, 35 mph, local this and that’s, pure bliss.

ahhhhh

GPS girl eventually put us back on the busier highway and we continued our  zip, zip, zipping with the other vehicles and made it home safe and sound.

Funny thing, though. The dismal and storms and blustery and icky-ness that we planned on and so very much expected ?? A few raindrops here, a few there were all we experienced in between the peekaboo teasing of that happy-go-lucky sun

& WoW

Thanks for the pause, Universe. You placed us on that beautiful side road for a reason and I will treasure that quiet, unique moment for a very long while.

Oh & next time a GPS Know-It-All leads me into parts unknown ??

You best believe, I’ll follow.

🙂
