Every March 2nd, as Read Across America Week rolls around, I’m taken back to a long ago conversation with a well-meaning soul.
You know, you’ll never be a millionaire writing children’s books. That market is flooded, the chances are slim, the blah blah blahblahblah … Nope. Never.
& every year, I contentedly remind myself, yep, I’m exactly where I was hoping to be all those years ago.
YaY.
You see, I’m not in this for dollar bills, notoriety or big shot this and that’s.
All I really, truly want is to be a child’s go-to, the book that fills their little insides with possibility, love and gleeeeeeee, the one remembered and cherished with complete delight.
No, my friends, I am not writing words in search of glamour, glory or riches.
Everything I need, everything I am is right here.
