I realize Christmas, 2023 was a whole, entire 32 days ago (!)
but I have one more holly, jolly to share

There will be NO SOCKS this year.
In my complete amazement, I heard myself respond,
ok. that’s cool. but why ??!!??
& in his no particular reason calm, he explained his been there, done that vibe with a simple
it. was. time.
Now, since I was absolutely convinced Mom had visited him in a dream, with her infamous !! JACK !! nudge,
I jumped on NO SOCKS with a whole lotta gleeeeeeee.
Yep.
I hear you, Mom.
DIFFERENT it will be.
But WHAT

& after a few back and forth, how about-s debating, it was decided,
to the Shrine, we’d go.
Ahhhhh, THE SHRINE
Truth be told, I hadn’t walked through those doors in a very long while, but once entered, Dad and I knew it was where we would discover what he (& Mom) were seeking.

Dad zeroed in right away.
LOVE NEVER FAILS were the words that spoke to him, especially in the form of this particular cutie.
Problem was, there were only 4 available, as discontinued, we were informed
and boo, we whispered, we need fifteen
but no worries, online we will seek and find !!
so off we back home trotted, filled with !! we got this !! confidence, only to receive the cold hard truth of discontinued
once again.

ok, then
hmmmm …
Welp.
How’s about we go back to The Shrine and look around one more time, Dad suggested,
surely there are other Love Never Fails somethings we hadn’t yet noticed
and with that drumbeat of hope, we undauntedly continued.
But discontinued was equally persistent
and just when we were thisclose to switching gears,
to maybe stepping back into sock-land …
appeared.
There are a few available, how many do you need ? asked the ever so helpful staffer.
Fifteen, we replied.
& long story short …

we’re. so. close.
what to do what to do
& with a perfectly timed exclamation of ! wait !
11 + 4 = our magic number
so became THE gift of Christmas, 2023.
