Wicker ♥ Memorial ♥ Park
I haven’t visited you in a long, L O N G while
& I’m not really sure why.
Too busy ?
Too sidetracked ?
Too this ? too that ?
Lame-o excuses, FOR SURE.
’cause one would think, after all we’ve been through, I’d at least have checked on you after the storm
running, searching, finding my separated soulmate,
ARE YOU OK ?? ARE YOU HURT ??!!??
But no, I didn’t,
for whatever reason, I haven’t.
& even with your gates now open, I pause, I wonder, when ?? will ?? I go back ??!!?

Oh, Wicker Park, countless times, I’ve written about your healing powers,
and have snapped picture

after picture

after

many

many

pictures.

but here I remain, frozen, knowing I will be leaving soon,
but too afraid to admit, our walks will be fewer than few as I find a new trail, a new home.
Oh Wicker Park, words will never, ever describe how you comforted me,
inspired me,
saved me,
held me tight and guided me to the answers I so desperately needed.

Your breathtaking canopy of trees,
aligned,
awakened,
helped me discover my purpose.
Odd,
sometimes I feel your whispered, it’s ok to leave us here, assurance,
as if we both know our moment is ending, we need to move on.
& I suppose, eventually, we will.
But Dang, Wicker Park, what a friend you have been.

I handed you my brokenness after Mom died
and you sheltered me until I grew strong enough to let you go.
& for that quiet genuineness, I’ll hold you in my heart, I’ll treasure you, always.

Because the truest of confidantes, you were,

you are.

& I thank you, Wicker Park.
oh, how I thank you.
