… but waiting …

… but waiting …

Written in April, 2019.
Repeated, because I miss her so.

Knowing her Grandma’s anniversary was approaching and my heart would reminisce, that I adore poems, pictures and stories of encouragement, Niece took the time out of her busyness to send me these beautiful words by Henry Scott-Holland

Death Is Nothing At All

I especially love the line. “I am but waiting for you …”

& although I sent a text of ♥-s and :)-s, I allowed the day to slip away without telling that sweet soul how much she lifted and how I truly appreciate her kindness

& then I got to thinking about all the clippings and snippets I have discovered through the years that have steadily and, oh so gently, coaxed me into a sanctuary called better.
I’d cut them out or write them down and tuck them into a place I’ve dubbed, Red Book.

& here they patiently hunker, waiting for the next time I’ll call upon them to soothe, to calm, to comfort.

My thoughts then took me to the many expressions I have penned throughout these years without her, and how my mama’s departure from this life has, in so many ways, fueled me
& so, today, I offer these simple rhymes, with the hope they heal a hurt the same way other’s lyrics and prose have helped balm mine.
