Little Feather

Little Feather

Let’s see … we’ve lived in this house thisclose to 37 years and it’s happened maybe, maybe ?? five times. hmmm. But there Husband and I were, minding our biz, when WHAM ! THUMP ! an innocent bird’s flight pattern took her right, smack dab into our front window and OUCH !! that had to hurt I exclaimed, as I fingers-crossed hoped all was ok

She was nowhere to be found in the couple second reaction time it took for me to scurry and search and in my mind I have her looking around, exasperatingly whispering, YaY no witnesses !! as she pulled herself together and continued with her day. But little did that critter know, she left behind a resilient slice of wonderful.

At first, I figured, welp !! that tiny feather will blow away any minute now because, yeah, it’s a FEATHER. And then I thought, hey Winter, it’s waaaaay too cold outside to be washing windows, so if that teeny something is going to quite literally, hang around, I guess I’ll deal with it’s removal on a warm day. After it became obvious there was a lesson to be learned, I was just as determined and promised I WILL NOT BE THE ONE TO TAKE THE FEATHER AWAY. EVER.

& so, winds and rain and snow and ice and the very best huffiness of nature did what needed to be done to release the feather from her insistent grip. But nope, no can do, there she remained with her I GOT THIS stance.

YaY

When Family came by for our celebration of Easter with their IT”S STILL THERE ??!!?? declaration, you best believe I applauded her feisty fortitude. So, two days ago, I decided to take a picture to commemorate her resolve. I mean, we’re winding down APRIL  and although I don’t know the exact day she arrived, end of February would be my educated guess. But Just. Like. THAT. and wouldntchaknowit ?? 24 short hours later she was poof !! gone !! As if she proved a point, as if she received her proper recognition, as if she realized, I understand

& hey there, Little Feather.

I do.

🙂

Oh Yes I Can

  1. The same hawks are constantly chasing birds into our windows. At least 2 mating pairs of hawks live in the cottonwoods between our houses. Even the decals we placed on our sliding back door doesn’t help; the birds (usually pigeons) are crazed in their futile fatal final flight. One hit on Tuesday actually and a minute later we saw a large hawk in the tree in our yard.

  2. It’s amazing that happens so infrequently at your house. That bird was probably chased into your window by a hawk. The hawks that live in the cottonwood trees between our house and yours are constantly chasing birds into the windows here. Even decals did little to help, these pigeons (mostly) can’t make the turn n their final futile flight for a few fleeting seconds of further freedom. In fact, this just happened last on Tuesday. Hawks are as inspirational as that very determined festher; in life you are either predator or prey.

    1. LOVE those hawks and I applaud their determination, but YIKES !! Thanks for sharing your perspective !! Who knew from one side of those tracks to the other our viewpoint could be so different … prey, predator, glider, hunter .. WoW. Love those cottonwoods too. sure miss mine ♥ Anyways. thanks for reading my words !! 🙂 !! I really appreciate !
