We Did

We Did

They say we grumble the same gripes and doubt the same doubts Every. Single. Year.

We Can’t. We won’t. We shouldn’t. We’ll never.

& it’s true.

Like an irritating, drippy faucet, this creature dubbed ‘Half Marathon’ taunts our brains month after month, reminding that although we have other medals to prove we’ve accomplished, THIS TIME will be different and harder and L O N G E R  and ugh and errrr and maybe and …

But there we were with our designated numbers and halfhearted enthusiasm, ready to give it !! one more try !!

& we always make sure we are out the door super early to avoid traffic, then when we arrive at that somewhat empty parking lot, we question our desire to avoid the bumper to bumper & hesitantly confirm our actions with an Oh well, we’re here, LET’S DO THIS !!  declaration.

And so begins our annual trek to the Mini.

But it is here,

HERE

where the why’s and how’s and WHAT ARE WE DOING ??? disappear. It is HERE where we hold hands and vow yep ! yep ! we CAN

The energy surrounding a running / walking event is beyond words and if you ever need a dose of pure, wonderful, human to kind human connection, I strongly recommend putting those tennies on and joining in. The smiling, encouraging volunteers will absolutely melt your heart and the mindset of the we are soooooo in this together  crowd is beautifully palpable

and even though the clouds hovered and the rain remained consistent

the camaraderie was domino effect contagious and as we approached the final mile with that push of a burst from complete strangers and happy everyone-s

each of us, in our own determined, quiet way realized why we bring ourselves to this awesome spot.

It’s because we can. It’s because we did.

WE. DID.

YaY

oh & just so you know, Complaint Department In My Head ??

You will NOT be joining us next year.

🙂

Oh Yes I Can
