Thirds
We are third cousins.
Her mom. My dad.
Her and Dad.
Her. Me
& we’d see each other over the years. Her family, my family, at church, funerals and those way back in the day reunions
& I have a very vague memory of our two young selves sharing a beer or three at a picnic table, remarking how much we have in common, how we should get together more often, how we … but, Life, ooooh, life gets soooooo darn busy.
Fast forward to where I’d see her familiar face on my walking trail. We’d smile, say Hi and I’d think, hmmmm pretty sure that’s Third Cousin and her husband but, it’s been years !! they wouldn’t remember me and I’d hate to interrupt with my silly, ‘I think I might know you’ inquiry. So, “HI!” we stayed.
Funny how the universe lines things up anyways.
I was leaving Niece’s house with Dad one day and hey !! looks who’s walking by !! Dad reintroduced and our conversation began. A Facebook request, a very kind message about my blog words and YaY !! and since we are both fans of the same treasure of a trail, we decided we need to walk and talk and reconnect
& normally ?? I’d pause with my ‘I’m a keep to myself with my music in my ears kind of gal’ but, I gave that nod to yes
& as we parted ways on Monday, after a most wonderful step, step, step, we have sooooo many similarities !! yapping fest, we decided we will meet up again and again because it’s amazing. THIS is amazing.
WoW.
Third cousins. New friends.
Thanks for the nudge, Universe.
🙂
