And Today
Words written quite a few years ago,
but the feelings, they shine
and today is her day,
so ….
♥ ♥ ♥
I adore when she sends a string of random texts to fill me in on what’s going on since her last string of random texts
& I’ve never met anyone so awesomely organized.
She is strong in ways I find impossible to be
& she continues to fascinate me with with her natural, take charge, I’ll do it, leadership skills.
She loves my boy
& their boys
& knowing she does, fills my insides with easy-peasy, warm, wonderful, content.

When 1st born grandson entered this world, I’d watch as she maneuvered her new role as mama, helping when I could, but realizing this I Don’t Have A Flippin’ Clue What To Do odyssey, called parenthood, would be figured out, slowly, surely, day by beautiful day, with the man she calls Husband, this man I call, Son.
Somewhere in these early days, I wrote a poem,
as I tried to capture the connection, the joy, the absolute priceless-ness
& somewhere down our road, she casually informed, the first picture she ever saw of me, her future mother-in-law, was an eyes blinking, Elf donned hat, Purdue tailgating, Breakfast Club ..
er
never mind
In-Law
ugh
Have I mentioned how I despise the in-law tag ??
Because she entered our lives like a burst of sunshine, when we needed this brightness most.
She dubbed him Grandpa Jack long before he was known as Grandpa Jack
and has filled a void in his heart, as he has in hers,

she’s conquered the art of The Spread,
(oh how I wish she and Mom had met)

went from a nonsportsloving vibe to boy mom with ! just like that ! ease

and has welcomed the beautiful quirkiness of each and every one, in this family of ! US !

Her sincerity continues to arrive perfect, exact and precise

& yep, today is her day,
those feelings, they shine
&
